Hills Haven
The owners of this large hills garden wanted a level, shaded area for alfresco dining near the existing swimming pool. The pool pump and filter were visible from the main living areas. The extensive areas of brick paving were a similar colour to the house bricks creating a monotonous colour scheme.
On the other side of the house the owners wanted to be able to access the studio without getting wet.
Solution
Various patios were constructed to provide shade and protection from the rain. The pool pump and filter are screened with vertical jarrah sleepers to harmonise with the bush nearby. Horizontal timber slat screens are used to screen the clothesline, bins, gas bottles etc and to provide privacy.
Exposed aggregate concrete and timber decking are used to contrast with the house and to create level areas. Some paved areas were removed to create additional garden beds. The new garden beds are planted with waterwise plants.
